Grants Now Available for Cat Sterilisation Programs

Funding of $345,000 is now open under the Cat Act Implementation Grant Program for organisations that offer programs to assist pensioners and low income earners with the costs of sterilising their cats.

City of Canning Inquiry Panel appointment and Terms of Reference

Local Government Minister John Castrilli has announced the appointment of Dr Christopher Kendall, Barrister, to conduct the inquiry into the City of Canning. Mr Castrilli said the appointment would be effective from April 1, 2013.
Ashburton Council temporarily suspended

Ashburton Council temporarily suspended and Commissioner appointed Local Government Minister John Castrilli today announced the temporary suspension of the Council of the Shire of Ashburton for a period of six months and the appointment of a Commissioner to the Shire.

Funding for Cat Act implementation announced

Local Government Minister Hon John Castrilli MLA today announced that the State Government will allocate more than $3million to help implement cat legislation aimed at reducing the thousands of stray cats being euthanised each year and to provide for responsible cat ownership.
‘Fair value’ for Local Government Reporting

To tackle the inconsistent use of fair value or cost value in financial reporting across the WA local government sector and to provide a more realistic measure of the value of community assets and a more accurate measure of financial and asset sustainability, only ‘fair value’ will be used.
